Movable Type Spam Killer

Last week sometime, fed up with the unending comment spam (thousands per
week), I had an epiphany.  Spammers aren't slowed down by changing
the action of the comment submission form, so it's obvious that they're
parsing that out of the markup for the form.  By simply removing
that from the form, theoretically the comment spam should stop.  Could it [...]

CFMX At Last

I finally got my copy of CF7 Standard a couple days ago, and have
just started the process of rebuilding with CF rather than JSP.
There's a lot of stuff to rebuild, not all of it trivial, but I'm
hoping to be mostly done this week.
Hardly even worth posting, I
know, but it'd been over two weeks since my [...]

Couple MT Changes

I installed MT-Blacklist,
a comment and trackback spam filter a couple weeks ago.  Man does
it do it's job well.  Took a little training to get it catching
all the usual suspects, but just in the past few days it's caught over
a thousand spam comments.  So much nicer than having to delete
them manually.
Last night, I also installed MT-Notifier,
which [...]

I'm Back

After a gloriously long holiday break (nearly two full weeks), I'm
finally back to real life.  I won't say that I've missed it, but
it is kind of nice to be back into a routine.  And now, the
obligatory quick recap.
Aside from a botched trip to Victoria, BC (things are closed on New
Years Day, imagine that ;), the [...]

Whoops

So it wasn't quite perfect. Realized that I'd botched the new entry config slightly in that comments weren't enabled by default. But that's fixed now, so anyone who happened by in the middle of the night and wondered why the previous post couldn't be commented on, that's the reason. It's fixed now though.

BlueDragon Live!

Well, I'm happy to say that I just deployed my first BlueDragon app to production this evening. It's not much (couple hundred KB), but it's up and running on BD 6.2 Beta. I discovered a whole slew of bugs as I put it together (it was a ~5 day sprint of late nights), but nothing [...]

Reorganization

I got to thinking last night that I didn't have the categories of the blog broken down very well. The "ColdFusion" category in particular was quite broad. So I broke it down into three categories, and reassigned the existing entries as needed:

BlueDragon: entries about New Atlanta's BlueDragon CFML runtime
CFML: entries about the CFML [...]

Where's The Boisvert Life??

If you came to 'www.barneyb.com' looking for The Boisvert Life, it's been moved to it's own domain: 'www.theboisvertlife.com'. I usually go to great lengths to ensure that I don't change URLs on people, but in this case, my hand was forced by some internal changes I had to make. Apologies for any inconvenience; [...]

I'm Popular?

I just noticed an interesting thing. My blog is getting more traffic in than The Boisvert Life for the first time ever. I guess this means that I'll actually have to start providing real content. ; )

JSP?!?

I've had a few questions recently about my choice of JSPs for my personal web site. Obviously I'm a ColdFusion guy, so it seems like I ought to be running ColdFusion for my personal site. I'm also an avid Fusebox user/developer, so it makes sense that I'd be using Fusebox as well. [...]
