Help Me: Per-Post Uploads in Firefox on Linux

WordPress has the ability to upload files directly on the add/edit post/page form, which is really handy.  However, I can't get it to work with FireFox on Linux (2.0.0.2 and CentOS 4, respectively); the section of the form just doesn't show up.  The IFRAME that houses it is in the page, but it's zero-height for [...]

Between Posts Plugin for WordPress

I wrote a little WordPress plugin for managing content between posts on listing pages.  Since those listings are time based, the "between" space is governed by the date range between the posts above and below it.  The actual impetus for it was to inject a history of my bike rides into my blog, without them [...]

My Files are Back

At long last, files are back on web.  All those old download links from before my server died last winter no longer point to missing files.  There are still some links that go to non-existent pages, but all the actual downloads should now be present.

WordPress Upgrade

Just applied WordPress 2.1 to the blog, with basically no issues, which is awesome.  Also, as you can see, I've switched to a Mollio-based layout, rather than the WordPress-specific on that I was using before.  That'll let me skin the site (along with the various other ones I multi-host) with just CSS, rather than having [...]

No More Cell Phone

As of the end of the year, my cell phone will no longer work.  It was a company phone and since I'm leaving, I won't be keeping it.  If I replace it, I'll get a Portland number instead of my old Bellingham number, so my current number will stop working regardless.  However, I figure if [...]

Akismet for Spam

I've been using WordPress for a little while now, and it ships with Akismet spam blocking plugin. I was a little skeptical after all the issues I had with Movable Type's spam blocking tools, but I'm impressed with Akismet. It's not perfect, but it does a good job. I'm going to wait [...]

Theme Change (Damn IE)

I swear I didn't get this blog back online just to bitch.  That being said, the theme I installed last night apparently doesn't work correctly in IE.  Snippets of text work, but the vast majority just blanks out for some reason.  So I put up one of the other themes that I'd been playing with, [...]

Migration is Fun!

Not really. Fortunately, WordPress reads Movable Type exports, which greatly smoothed the moving of blog entries and comments, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. I've also added RewriteRules to automatically redirect from any of the old RSS/Atom feeds to the new feed, so aggregators/feed readers shouldn't have to be updated. [...]

Hello world!

There are stories to tell of the last week, but they'll have to wait for another day. However, I'm happy to say that my blog is again active, though none of the old content is there yet. Running it on WordPress now, on a shared host, which is quite a different experience. [...]

To BlogCFC or not to BlogCFC…

Currently my blog (along with my wife's, my sister's, and my sister-in-law's), runs on a custom amalgamation of technologies: MovableType in a 'service' role, custom JSP frontend, custom CFML admin area.
As happens to nearly every small personal project that evolves over several years, the piecemeal nature of the system is starting to be a burden.  [...]
